  Honestly I didn't have the highest expectations going into this training. Usually its just mindlessly watching an instructor read through the power point...but not with Peter. He was so engaging. The course format felt more conversational and we applied what we were learning to real life scenarios.   Some of the editable fields on the PDF workbook weren't working smoothly. For example, on page 55, some of the boxes could not be checked unless you checked the box above.   Great instructor with excellent examples. I found the course well-rounded and covering a range of topics. I found the instructor and discussion more helpful than the book contents - some of that I found outdated/less useful (coming up with a metaphor for management seemed a little pointless, I haven't found SMART goals very effective in my line of work, etc.). For these areas, the instructor was able to provide useful examples when asked, so that compensated for the book in those areas. However, I found the feedback module VERY good - I liked the structure that was provided for giving constructive feedback. Finally, my favourite part was some of the group role play activities - I liked practicing and getting feedback on those activities from the instructor and peers. Great examples based on lots of relevant experience. Liz noted down our key areas of learning interest and the beginning and tried to address each of them within the course. She made herself available for questions and given the small group size, I felt like I could bring up all my questions as they came up. She made it a professional and friendly learning environment for everyone.

  There wasn't enough time for some of the group discussion. Given that we were in groups of 4-5 people per group discussion, it was hard to ensure that everyone got to speak or provide feedback.Because of the short periods for group discussions, often the class kept talking beyond the allocated time. This then required the facilitator to have to raise her voice to get us to stop talking. I did not like this about the experience. This could have easily been avoided if we were given more time for group discussions or divided into smaller groups so we could all have the opportunity to exchange ideas before we ran out of time.Should work with external organizations to ensure that reminder emails etc did not g into our junk mail.

  I would have liked more examples of how to give different types of feedback. For example, rather than just a generic use case on bad performance, split it up into poor quality work, low output, not enough independence in work, not working well in a team/with peers, etc. The facilitator sometimes glossed over topics after giving a personal anecdote. The anecdotes themselves are a memorable way to understand the concepts, but I wonder if some of the detailed content is not missed. I will have to read the book to find out. The location was convenient. The small class size (8 participants) was also nice.

  The course structure was excellent. At times, I thought the writing in the notebook could have been tightened up - example scenarios written a little more clearly or concisely. Generally, very positive experience. Karen was very knowledgeable and engaging. I sometimes found her delivery a bit fast, particularly in flowing from delivering the course material right into a personal anecdote to illustrate. Perhaps I'm a slow listener, but there were more than a few times when I ended up a bit lost halfway through her anecdotes.   I think that this course could benefit from modules 1 to 3 being condensed. I feel that from Motivation onward is where the most time shoudl have been spent. Consider providing a short summary of what an individual colleague does vs what a manager/supervisor does and not leading to entire modules onto their own. Consider getting people to do the I-SPEAK testing at home or on their break, and then the in class time can be spent workshopping what these things can mean in different environments. And as much as I dislike critiquing the fact that there was a delay as long as the movie trying to get the movie to work (yay technology), CMC is an environment set up for training... playing a DVD in 2018 should not have been a struggle. Feel like valuable time was lost. Very positive and knowledgeable

  The instructor and class size were great for learning. It was a very open group, where comments and discussions were very informative.   Excellent course. Extremely practical to my situation. Some material was left not covered but only because we were a small group and able to dive into the specifics of our situations which ended up being a lot more practical to me than covering all of the theory. Luc was excellent and made the course extremely enjoyable. He made sure that the course addressed our individual concerns and situations which allowed us to get a lot more practical use out of the training then we would have by just covering the regular course content in a large group setting. We had a group of only 4 people and this size made it really comfortable to share experiences/concerns and to experiment with new techniques.   Learning about the Myers-Briggs personality types and how they can assist us when dealing with others was invaluable.  I can say without reservation the information received will be a fantastic learning tool   Further, the communication and listening and the 7 rules of corrective feedback portions of the workshop were also enlightening and provided a new way to approach difficult conversations with others.  Liz was engaging and presented the material in an interactive and tangible way. She was fun, energetic and encouraging which made it easier to step outside of our comfort zone and truly embrace the materials presented.   This course provided me with a new understanding of how I interact with others and empowered me.  I can not express how insightful I found the  Myers-Briggs personality types portion of the course.

  Some of the content seemed to be quite basic - especially the section on communication and the open versus closed ended questions and identifying the issues within example situations.  The instructor did a good job of making this more interesting but for the most part, the course material in this section was too basic. Endless energy and able to maintain interest throughout the two days. I would prefer the course time to be 8:30 - 4:30, simply because of traffic. Would also be beneficial to have people switch who they are sitting with on day 2.

  Bruce was fantastic as keeping the group engaged and on task.    A good pace to the two days.   Bruce did a great job at keeping the group engaged and used great real life examples to show relevance.

  I think this is such a valuable course for managers, both new and existing.   The one constructive comment I have is in regards to the notebook. Though the content of the notebook is covered throughout the course, I would have preferred to have the notebook contain articles and other reading material included that was referenced in the course. Karen mentioned that there are some great resources online through CMC's website, but i think it would be beneficial to include some of those resources in the notebook. Karen is great!
